Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead HVAC Mechanical Engineer for our Hamilton, NJ office to lead mechanical design across building and infrastructure projects. You will work with project managers and senior engineers to drive technical reviews and deliverables, from concept through construction.

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years post-education experience in engineering and mechanical design for a consulting firm
  • Engineer license required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, decision making and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a collaborative team
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with Deltek or Project Resource Management software preferred
  • Ability to meet and exceed client expectations

Responsibilities

  • Apply high-level mechanical engineering techniques to improve building and infrastructure project phases
  • Conduct site condition inspections to ensure conformance with rules and permits
  • Design mechanical systems including heating/cooling load calculations
  • Select and layout mechanical equipment (pumps, chiller, fans, boilers)
  • Develop construction and installation plans, specs, and cost estimates
  • Manage mechanical design and construction from inception to completion
  • Incorporate advanced technologies and modeling techniques in designs
  • Coordinate installation plans with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants and clients
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to address issues or opportunities
  • Analyze data from field investigations to guide action plans
  • Attend meetings with architects, owners, and building managers
  • Collaborate with professionals on funded improvement projects and business development
  • Stay current with latest mechanical engineering practices
  • Adhere to WSP Code of Conduct and company policies
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required
