Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to provide conceptual design for projects and lead or direct engineers in HVAC and other system designs. You will document production for small and large projects and participate in design meetings with project teams.

The role requires a four-year engineering degree, 5+ years of experience, and a PE license. You will read mechanical and plumbing plans and communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including clients and contractors.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years experience.
• PE License required.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, with clients and contractors.
• Strong public speaking skills.
• Strong computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Serve as design professional at project team design meetings.
• Prepare complex preliminary redline layouts for estimating.
• Perform complex calculations (heating/cooling loads, equipment sizing, friction loss).
• Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance and resolve design issues during construction.
• Supervise or direct the workflow of junior engineers in HVAC or system design.
