Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to supervise HVAC design and documentation for large and multiple projects. You will lead a team of design engineers, guide preconstruction activities, and ensure design quality from concept through completion.

Responsibilities include coordinating with architects, contractors, and clients, producing calculations, drawings, and specifications, and supporting project management to meet time frames.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering; P.E. license preferred; 8+ years experience in related field.
• HVAC design knowledge including equipment types and system operations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, project teams, and field trades.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing drawings.
• Public speaking and business writing skills.
• Proficient with CADD, Trane Software and Microsoft Office (Excel).
• Strong knowledge of the engineering industry.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to design engineers in HVAC system design and documentation.
• Lead preconstruction activities including design-build/design-assist processes.
• Prepare preliminary (redline) designs for estimating.
• Provide technical guidance to Engineering Team on standards and projects.
• Ensure quality of work from design engineering group.
• Participate in conceptual design and project meetings.
• Represent the company in design meetings and with client personnel.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely, high-quality construction.
• Develop relationships with external project teams during preconstruction.
