Job summary

Daikin Applied Americas is seeking Principal Designers in Staunton, VA or Plymouth, MN. You will design parts, create production drawings, and manage BOMs for varying project sizes, shaping product documentation from concept to manufacturing.

You’ll help standardize design and processes while leading design across product lines. The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration with Marketing/Sales, and delivering cost-effective, manufacturable solutions while supporting weekly production schedules

Qualifications

Associates Degree + 15 years related design experience OR BS in Engineering + 12 years design experience.
Understanding of AMSE Y14.5 design and drafting standards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with Excel (moderate to high level).
SolidWorks mechanical understanding (basic).
DraftSight basic understanding.

Responsibilities

Create engineering documentation including SolidWorks models and drawings per Daikin standards.
Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and leadership across product lines.
Develop BOM logic and support production schedules.
Provide guidance to Designers and train team members.
Transfer product knowledge to operations and assist in solution development.
