Job summary

Daikin Applied Americas seeks a Principal Designer to lead design for large HVAC systems. You will produce SolidWorks drawings, create BOMs, and develop manufacturing documentation from concept to release, ensuring quality, manufacturability, and cost targets.

Hybrid work option with Staunton VA or Plymouth MN locations. You will mentor designers and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to standardize processes across product lines.

Qualifications

• Industrial design or drafting degree, with extensive design experience.
• Strong knowledge of SolidWorks and drafting standards.
• Ability to translate concepts into manufacturable documentation.
• Willingness to travel 10–15% and lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Create engineering drawings and BOMs per Daikin standards.
• Translate engineering intent into manufacturing documentation.
• Lead cross-functional teams on design projects.
• Develop BOM selection logic for auto-generation.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to transfer knowledge.
• Mentor Designers and provide guidance on projects.
