Johnson Controls, Inc. seeks a Systems Engineering Leader I to lead a team responsible for hardware, software, and network-level commissioning on HVAC projects. You will drive cost-effective, compliant, customer-centered engineering with a focus on improving processes and tools.

The role requires eight+ years in engineering leadership with HVAC/controls experience, plus strong communication skills and cost-management expertise. On-site leadership in Cedar Rapids, IA is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and eight+ years of HVAC and control programming experience.
• Proven leadership experience supervising technical or engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and cost management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication for presenting technical information.

Responsibilities

• Manage workload of the Systems Engineering Team and ensure timely deliverables.
• Develop clear processes and standards to remove obstacles and streamline workflows.
• Provide precise engineering cost estimates during project development.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with customers to drive project success.
• Oversee selection of controllers and devices to optimize installation costs.
• Use financial and management reports to evaluate project outcomes.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships to support project development.
• Maintain design reuse and uphold high-quality engineering standards.
