CDM Smith invites a Senior Substation Physical Engineer to lead HV substation design from 230kV to 345kV, serve as Engineer of Record, and guide a growing Power and Energy team across multiple offices.

You will drive technical excellence, mentor engineers, manage complex projects, and coordinate with clients, design teams, and project leadership to deliver safe, reliable and compliant substations on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 15 years of related experience. Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, execution, and delivery of HV substation projects ranging from 230kV to 345kV.
• Serve as Engineer of Record and technical authority for substation physical design, including AIS/GIS substations, equipment layouts, grounding, lightning protection, and station service systems.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables, studies, and calculations to ensure compliance with client requirements and CDM Smith procedures.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support integrated project delivery from planning through construction and startup.
• Drive quality reviews, standards development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and designers for career growth.
• Recruit, onboard, and retain engineering talent; foster collaboration and accountability.
• Manage team utilization, staffing, and project profitability; support business development.
