Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to lead HV substation design efforts, delivering planning, layouts, grounding, and protection concepts for projects up to 765 kV. You will mentor engineers, coordinate with PMs, and contribute to technical papers while supporting HDR's quality assurance across multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
• A minimum of 10 years of technical design experience with high voltage substation projects up to 765kV.
• Experience with substation layouts, plans, sections, grounding, lightning protection, and control building arrangements.
• Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, ANSI, and other applicable design standards.
• Prefer candidates locally in Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge and execution of technical aspects and deliverables for projects of basic to moderate complexity.
• Develop and implement a project execution plan for the technical aspects of projects.
• Assign project tasks and provide technical guidance to team members.
• Support scope, schedule, budget through proposal development and cost controls.
• Coordinate quality checks per HDR QMS and mentor engineers and drafters/designers.
• Lead multiple projects concurrently and collaborate with senior engineers to develop technical expertise.
• Assist with technical papers and presentations to showcase HDR capabilities.
