Job summary

AES is seeking a Senior HV CAD Designer to support high voltage substation and transmission design, with ~75% HV focus and 25% PV/BESS land development. Bring drafting expertise, collaboration across internal and external teams, and a drive to improve design efficiency.

The role is hybrid in the US, with flexible location and travel up to 10%. Candidates should have HV CAD experience and strong AutoCAD/Bluebeam skills to meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Associate degree or higher in CAD or related field.
5+ years of drafting/design experience in HV substation/transmission CAD.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Office.
Knowledge of HV equipment, diagrams, and code considerations.
Ability to coordinate across HV, PV, and land development teams.

Responsibilities

Develop up to 30% substation packages in AutoCAD/Bluebeam for 35kV–500kV facilities.
Create transmission line exhibits showing pole designs, ROWs, and crossings.
Support PV and BESS land development with site plans and diagrams.
Collaborate with HV project engineers, leads, real estate, permitting, and management teams.
Develop CAD standards, templates, and symbol databases for consistency.
Coordinate with land/permits teams on substation pads and site constraints.
Review external substation designs for clearances and standards.
