Job summary

General Motors in Warren, MI seeks a Senior Design Engineer for high‑voltage battery systems (RESS). You will design, model, analyze, and release components and subsystems, using Siemens NX or SolidWorks, FlowEFD or MATLAB, and applying GD&T.

You will collaborate with engineering teams, support design reviews, and help advance next‑generation automotive electrification technologies in a hybrid onsite/remote environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, Architecture, or a related technical discipline.
• Approximately 8–10 years of relevant mechanical design, product design, or CAD engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with Siemens NX or SolidWorks for 3D component and subsystem design.
• Experience with engineering analysis software such as FlowEFD or MATLAB.
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and CAD modeling best practices.
• Experience developing mechanical components with manufacturability and system integration in mind.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, refine, and finalize 3D CAD models and subsystem assemblies using Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
• Create engineering models and design data meeting requirements and specifications.
• Apply design-for-manufacturing and GD&T principles to ensure quality and manufacturability.
• Integrate component designs into larger vehicle systems and support releases.
• Perform design validation and analysis using NX and FlowEFD or MATLAB.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support design reviews.
