Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer focused on Low Voltage (LV) battery systems to ensure regulatory compliance, reliability, and system integrity from concept through production. The role requires leading cross-functional teams across design, validation, and manufacturing to deliver robust LV battery architectures.

Based in Milford, MI with a hybrid work model, you will apply FMEA/FTA/HALT testing and stay aligned with ISO 26262 and UN ECE R100 standards, while driving

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in EE/ME or related field.
• 7+ years in systems engineering with automotive battery focus.
• Experience with regulatory compliance processes and standards (ISO 26262, UN ECE R100).
• Proven reliability engineering experience (FMEA, FTA, HALT/HASS).
• Knowledge of battery chemistry and battery management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead system engineering for LV battery management systems from concept to production.
• Ensure LV battery systems and software meet regulatory standards and GM requirements.
• Develop reliability plans including FMEA, DVP&Rs, and validation testing.
• Collaborate with design, validation, manufacturing, and suppliers.
• Analyze field data and warranty claims to drive improvements and corrective actions.
• Define and document system requirements, specs, and interface controls.
• Participate in design reviews and guide LV battery architecture and performance.
• Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes.
