Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to support the development and integration of high-voltage battery systems within an automotive propulsion engineering organization. This position will focus on the design, modeling, analysis, and release of components and subsystems supporting Rechargeable Energy Storage Systems (RESS) and vehicle electrification initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Siemens NX or SolidWorks, engineering analysis tools, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). This role requires a solid understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and product development, along with the ability to collaborate with engineering teams to deliver high-quality designs.

This is an opportunity to contribute to next-generation automotive electrification technologies while working alongside experienced engineering professionals in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & CAD Development
  • Develop, refine, and finalize 3D CAD models, component designs, and subsystem assemblies using Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
  • Create and maintain detailed engineering models and mathematical design data that meet component and subsystem requirements.
  • Develop design criteria, sections, and technical specifications in accordance with established engineering standards.
  • Apply mechanical design principles, GD&T, and design-for-manufacturing methodologies to ensure component functionality, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Incorporate design-for-assembly, packaging, and system integration considerations into component and subsystem development.
  • Maintain accurate material specifications, component mass properties, and other technical information within CAD models.
  • Integrate individual component and subsystem designs into larger vehicle systems.
  • Support component design releases and ensure engineering deliverables meet established quality and timing requirements.
Engineering Analysis & Product Development
  • Perform engineering analysis and design validation using NX analysis capabilities and other engineering tools such as FlowEFD or MATLAB.
  • Evaluate design performance and incorporate analytical findings into component and subsystem improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering partners to resolve design challenges, improve product performance, and ensure technical requirements are met.
  • Apply knowledge of automotive product development processes and engineering best practices throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Support design reviews by presenting technical solutions, identifying potential issues, and recommending improvements.
  • Consider manufacturing processes such as injection molding, stamping, extrusion, and machining during product design.
  • Support the development and refinement of components used in high-voltage battery and energy storage applications.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Design Management
  • Work closely with design engineers, technical leads, engineering partners, and other stakeholders to achieve product development objectives.
  • Utilize CAD data management systems, including Teamcenter and visualization tools, to maintain accurate design records and support engineering releases.
  • Communicate project progress, design changes, technical concerns, and timing requirements to engineering leadership.
  • Participate in design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Maintain compliance with established CAD modeling methods, design standards, and engineering release procedures.
  • Share technical knowledge, lessons learned, and recommendations for continuous improvement with engineering colleagues.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, Architecture, or a related technical discipline.
  • Approximately 8–10 years of relevant mechanical design, product design, or CAD engineering experience; candidates with fewer years of experience and strong technical qualifications will also be considered.
