Job summary

Fermi America is seeking an HSSE Area Manager for the Data Center project in Amarillo, TX. You will lead day-to-day HSSE oversight across construction, fit-out, and commissioning, ensuring OSHA compliance and field safety performance.

You will manage a team of field coordinators, drive incident investigations, supervise contractor safety plans, and coordinate environmental and emergency preparedness activities on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 7+ years of construction HSSE experience with 3+ years in supervisory roles on large industrial/data center projects.
• Deep knowledge of OSHA 1926 standards and Texas regulations.
• Experience leading safety professionals in a field environment.
• Strong incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action skills.
• Excellent communication and ability to influence at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Implement and enforce the site HSSE Management System, HSE Plan, and SSE procedures.
• Supervise field HSSE Coordinators and Advisors; conduct daily site walks, inspections, and audits.
• Lead incident and near-miss investigations and OSHA reporting.
• Oversee contractor safety plans, JSAs, and pre-task planning.
• Coordinate site training, toolbox talks, and orientations.
• Coordinate environmental touchpoints with the Environmental Manager.
• Support emergency preparedness, drills, and medical response plans.
• Track HSSE metrics and report trends to the Safety Manager.
• Manage electrical safety hazards in energized construction.
• Oversee safety for data center fit-out and commissioning; manage trade density risks.
