Job summary

Fermi America is seeking an HSSE Area Manager to lead day-to-day HSSE oversight for data center construction, fit-out, and commissioning. You will implement the site HSSE Management System, supervise field coordinators, and ensure OSHA and Texas regulations are met on a large, complex project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of construction HSSE experience with 3+ years in a supervisory or lead role on large industrial projects.
• Deep knowledge of OSHA 1926 standards and state regulations.
• Experience leading safety professionals in a field environment.
• Strong incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Excellent communication across all levels, from craft to executive.

Responsibilities

• Implement and enforce the site HSSE Management System, HSE Plan, and SSE procedures.
• Supervise field HSSE Coordinators and Advisors; ensure field coverage and oversight.
• Lead incident and near-miss investigations and corrective actions; ensure proper reporting.
• Hold contractors to HSSE expectations; review safety plans and pre-task planning.
• Ensure site orientation, toolbox talks, and training documentation are delivered.
• Coordinate with Environmental Manager on spill prevention, waste, and permits.
• Support emergency response planning, drills, and medical response coordination.
• Track leading and lagging HSSE metrics; report performance to Safety Manager.
• Manage electrical safety hazards and energized-work controls per NFPA 70E.
• Oversee data center fit-out and MEP installation safety in the area.
