Job summary

Express Employment Professionals - Cincinnati East is seeking an HR/Payroll Specialist in Santa Clarita, CA. The role reports to the Human Resources Manager and handles biweekly payroll for exempt and non-exempt staff while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years in payroll within a fast-paced environment, strong Excel skills, and experience with Paycom or similar systems.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or certificate in Finance, Accounting, Payroll Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of payroll experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Paycom or similar payroll systems; ability to become proficient within 3 months.
• Strong understanding of HR processes and collaboration with HR teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for biweekly exempt and non-exempt employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Oversee electronic and manual check processes, payroll records, and reporting.
• Administer the automated timekeeping system, including onboarding, setup, auditing, training, and report generation for employees and supervisors.
• Process garnishments, levies, leaves of absence, and employment verifications.
• Compile and review payroll and HR data to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations.
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, ensuring timely corrections.
• Support 401(k), workers’ compensation, and other audits as required.
• Process accurate year-end reporting, including W-2s, 1095-Cs, and other required documentation.
• Manage taxation of employer-paid benefits.
• Collaborate with Finance, HR, and other departments to maintain smooth workflow and accurate reporting.
• Participate in projects and process improvements as assigned.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion in all employee and payroll matters.
• Provide exceptional support and communication to employees, management, and external agencies.
