Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc is seeking a Senior HR Specialist to deliver high-quality employee experiences through HR administration, employee support, and comprehensive leave management. This onsite role in Shelton, CT partners with Payroll, Benefits, and a third-party leave vendor to ensure regulatory compliance and a seamless employee lifecycle.

The position requires aBachelor's degree in HR or related field and approximately 5 years in HR operations with at least 1 year in leave

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in HR/HROps/Employee Services/Benefits Administration or related HR function.
• At least 1 year supporting leave administration (FMLA, disability, workers' comp, state leaves).
• Experience with HRIS (Workday) and MS Office; strong data accuracy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for employee inquiries on pay, benefits, policies, time-off, and records.
• Support onboarding: prepare new hire docs, coordinate pre-employment requirements, onboarding, and orientation; ensure paperwork/system setup.
• Maintain accurate employee data in HRIS; collaborate with Payroll/Benefits to resolve issues.
• Develop and maintain HR process docs, articles, and resources; assist audits, reporting, compliance; implement improvements.
• Coordinate immigration-related processes with counsel/vendors; track milestones and documents.
• Review, process, and monitor invoices from HR vendors; manage billing with Finance.
• Serve as internal administrator for leave programs (FMLA, STD, LTD, WC, paid leave, state leaves); guide employees and managers through leave steps; ensure compliance and accurate records.
