Job summary

Century Arms Vermont in Fairfax, VT is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager for a full-time, multi-site leadership role. You will lead day-to-day HR operations, payroll, benefits, compliance, and employee lifecycle processes, while coaching managers and coordinating with EHS and legal teams.

Ideal candidates bring 5–10+ years in HR, strong leadership, and expertise in HRIS/payroll systems, with ability to travel between sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field; relevant experience may substitute.
• 5–10+ years in HR with employee relations, investigations, leave/accommodation and HR operations.
• At least 3 years of formal or functional leadership experience.
• Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or multi-site environments preferred.
• Strong knowledge of federal employment requirements across Vermont and other states.
• PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
• Experience with HRIS, payroll, benefits, timekeeping, reporting; ADP TotalSource or WFN preferred.
• Strong investigation, writing, coaching, judgment, organization, and data-analysis skills.
• Ability to travel between company locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily HR operations, set priorities, standardize practices across sites.
• Supervise HR Generalist and HR Administrator; assign work and development.
• Lead employee relations matters, investigations, documentation, and recommendations with HR Director/legal.
• Coach managers on performance, attendance, policy interpretation, and documentation.
• Administer FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers’ comp, state leave, and return-to-work with EHS and benefits.
• Oversee policy administration and updates for HR Director approval.
• Oversee payroll/timekeeping coordination and HR data integrity; vendor escalation.
• Oversee benefits administration and enrollment communications.
• Maintain HRIS data integrity, security, reporting standards, and audits.
• Oversee personnel records, I-9 compliance, retention, postings, notices, and audits.
• Coordinate onboarding handoff from Talent Acquisition and ensure readiness.
• Partner with Talent Acquisition on workforce priorities, descriptions, compensation approvals, metrics.
• Partner with EHS on injury response and training records.
• Develop and report HR metrics such as turnover and leave trends.
• Serve as acting HR department leader when designated.
• Support the 5S process in the work area daily.
• Other duties as needed.
