Job summary

National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) in Hampton, VA invites applications for a Human Resources Manager. The role oversees HR functions including recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, benefits and compensation administration, HR policies, employee relations, and compliance with employment laws.

Hybrid work may be considered for exceptional candidates. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in HR or related field and at least 5 years of HR experience, with ADP Workforce Now

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
• 5+ years of relevant HR experience or equivalent.
• Experience administering HR functions in HR management capacity.
• Experience with an HRIS; ADP Workforce Now experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
• Excellent planning, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer employee benefit program, including open enrollment, changes, and terminations, process invoices, and reconcile retirement/HSA contributions.
• Oversee compensation program, including annual review, structure maintenance, and equity alignment.
• Manage annual performance review process and support supervisors on performance management.
• Coordinate recruitment activities: job postings, screening, reference checks, offers, onboarding.
• Coordinate and conduct employee offboarding, verification, and exit interviews.
• Develop, recommend, and implement HR procedures to improve efficiency and consistency.
• Monitor compliance with federal and state employment laws and company policies.
• Maintain confidential personnel files and HRIS records in ADP Workforce Now.
• Serve as resource to employees and leadership regarding HR policies and workplace practices.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment with sensitive information.
• Report to Senior Director of Research & Operations on other duties as assigned.
