Job summary

Maryland Military Department seeks an experienced HR Officer III to perform a wide range of HR generalist duties, including recruitment, benefits coordination, and retirement coordination. The role includes supervising the Payroll Manager and Agency Timekeeper to ensure compliant HR processes.

The position serves over 200 regular and contractual employees and more than 4,000 National Guard members when activated, with a focus on high-quality customer service and adherence to state policies.

Qualifications

• Seven years of HR experience including recruitment and employment services, classification and compensation, employee relations, or related areas.
• Bachelor's degree substitution options exist; see notes in the ad.
• Experience with timekeeping, payroll, and benefits administration is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Payroll Manager and Agency Timekeeper to ensure compliant HR processes.
• Perform full-cycle HR generalist duties including recruitment, benefits coordination, and retirement coordination.
• Conduct employee relations activities including investigatory interviews and memo drafting.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, policies and guidelines across HR functions.
