Job summary

The City of Meridian seeks a Senior HR Generalist to serve as an HR Business Partner, partnering with department Directors to recruit, onboard, coach, and develop staff. You will oversee benefit programs, wellness initiatives, and COBRA compliance while ensuring HR processes align with city policies and laws.

Ideal candidates have an Associate degree with 6–8 years’ HR Generalist experience, a Bachelor’s in HR/Management/Business preferred, and strong writing and relationship-building skills.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate degree plus 6-8 years’ HR Generalist experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Management or Business desirable; PHR/SPHR desirable.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint).
• Strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws including FMLA, ADA, COBRA, FLSA, ERISA, DOL and IRS regulations.
• Excellent writing skills and ability to communicate clearly with all levels of staff.

Responsibilities

• Partner with department leaders to recruit, onboard, and develop staff.
• Provide employee relations support through investigations, coaching, and policy interpretation.
• Lead or support HR programs (benefits, wellness, recognition) and training initiatives.
• Ensure HR processes, records, and compliance align with city policies and laws.
• Manage HR data input and reporting; support annual compensation and performance reviews.
