The Senior HR Generalist is a strategic partner and hands-on contributor, responsible for supporting consistent and compliant HR practices across the organization. This role covers core HR functions with emphasis on employee engagement, benefits administration, compliance, and learning and development, particularly within a government contractor environment.
Key responsibilities include providing guidance and support to HR staff, overseeing benefits programs, and leading the optimization of the Paycom LMS to support company-wide training and compliance initiatives.
This position is based at Teal’s Salt Lake City facility, with a flexible but consistent remote work schedule available as needed.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Benefits Administration
- Oversee and support the full cycle of benefits administration, including open enrollment, qualifying life events, and employee communications.
- Coordinate leave-related benefits (e.g., Military Leave, FMLA, disability, state-specific leaves) in alignment with legal protections and the broader benefits strategy.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex benefits inquiries, working closely with brokers, vendors, and carriers to resolve issues and support employees.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws (ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA) to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Track and report key benefits metrics to inform HR and organizational planning.
Learning Management & Development- Serve as the Paycom LMS lead, responsible for:
- Assigning and maintaining company-wide training (required and elective)
- Managing compliance tracking and reporting
- Coordinating with departments for role-specific training
- Building a scalable training calendar aligned with business needs
- Monitoring completions and ensuring accountability.
Employee Relations & HR Operations
- Provide strategic HR support on performance management, workplace concerns, and policy interpretation, including coaching, discipline, and investigations to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with multi-state labor laws and federal regulations; monitor updates and communicate changes to leadership.
- Stay current on employment laws (EEO, ADA, FMLA, FLSA) and support policy alignment.
- Lead internal HR communications to promote employee engagement while mentoring HR staff by sharing expertise, reinforcing best practices, and modeling senior-level HR leadership.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Partner with the Talent Acquisition Manager to streamline recruitment processes and provide support when needed.
- Assist with offer letters, and compliance documentation in collaboration with the HR team.
HR Systems, Reporting & Compliance
- Maintain accurate employee records in Paycom and generate reports and dashboards to support leadership and compliance needs.
- Support annual audits, AAP outreach reporting, and documentation for internal/external reviews.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of required compliance reports, including but not limited to the EEO-1, VETS-4212, ACA filings, and OSHA logs, ensuring alignment with VEVRAA, Section 503, and other applicable regulations.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance HR system efficiency, compliance, and scalability.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications -
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a generalist or senior-level capacity.
- Proven experience managing or supporting a Learning Management System (LMS).
- Experience supporting a multi-state and government contractor workforce.
- Experience working in an aerospace, defense, or high-compliance manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws.
- Experience managing or assisting with internal investigations and disciplinary processes.
- Advanced proficiency with Paycom HRIS system.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with leadership and influence at various organizational levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Maintain a high standard of confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive employee information.
Additional Desired Qualifications -
- Familiarity with AS9100 standards and practices
- Knowledge of federal contractor compliance requirements (e.g., VEVRAA, Section 503)
- Professional certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) desired, not required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions -
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, occasionally high-pressure environment.
- Capacity to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
- Must be able to read, comprehend, and interpret HR-related policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- Manual dexterity required for data entry, filing, and preparing documentation.
- Effective communication skills for phone, email, and in-person interactions across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to move throughout the office to access files, office equipment, and meet with staff as needed.
- Occasional lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds.
- Flexibility to work outside of standard business hours when necessary to meet critical HR priorities or deadlines.
- Ability to attend on-site meetings at Teal’s Salt Lake City facility, with the flexibility to work remotely as needed.
