Job summary

Virginia Tech is seeking a Senior Technical Analyst to lead the Data and Analytics division within HRIT. You will bridge applications development and data analysis to deliver secure, actionable insights across the university’s workforce.

The role supervises a hybrid team, designs HR data pipelines and dashboards, and ensures privacy and compliance while partnering with HR leadership and stakeholders to enable data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical/analytical field.
• Experience leading applications development or data analysis teams.
• Strong ability to elicit and translate requirements into technical specs.
• Proficient SQL and relational database design/management.
• Experience designing/maintaining data pipelines, dashboards and analytics reports.
• Excellent communication with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead a hybrid team of developers and analysts.
• Direct architectural design and integration of HR applications and databases.
• Develop data-driven dashboards and analytics reporting for HR and executives.
• Enforce data security, privacy, and compliance per policies.
• Elicit business needs and translate them into system requirements and specifications.
