Job summary

Butte County’s Department of Employment and Social Services seeks a Senior Department Human Resources Coordinator to lead complex HR operations within a large county department. You will supervise staff, coordinate recruitment and classification activities, and advise on policies and investigations while ensuring compliance with MOUs and legal requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, public administration or related field.
• 5 years administrative and/or human resources experience, including two years of lead or supervisor experience.
• Must possess a valid US driver's license; CA driver's license required after hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, supervise, and review the work of assigned staff; train staff and evaluate performance.
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and implement HR functions for the department; develop procedures to improve efficiency.
• Advise management and employees on HR policies, MOUs, and investigations.
• Review grievances and coordinate investigations with HR and department management.
• Oversee workers’ compensation, disability, ADA accommodations, FMLA, and leave administration.
• Coordinate training needs assessments and staff development programs.
• Lead recruitment, selection processes, and ensure equal employment opportunity.
• Coordinate performance management, job analysis, and compensation activities.
• Ensure compliance with laws, policies, and MOUs; train supervisors on HR policies.
• Prepare reports, board items, and other official documents; manage records and data.
• Participate in organizational studies and special projects; present findings to management.
