Job summary

The State of Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission is seeking an experienced Human Resources professional for a hybrid role in Burien, WA. This position leads expert HR consultation and oversees recruitment, onboarding, classification, compensation, and performance management, reporting to the HR Operations Manager.

Responsibilities include coordinating HR services, guiding complex HR matters, and refining processes to deliver efficient, consistent, customer-focused service.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of senior-level HR consulting experience across recruitment, onboarding, classification, compensation, or performance management.
• At least 2 years as an HRC2 or higher in a Washington State government agency.
• At least 2 years using the NeoGov applicant tracking system.
• At least 2 years using HRMS.
• At least 2 years of supervisory or lead-worker experience.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and develop staff to support growth and teamwork.
• Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and labor relations.
• Experience composing professional business communications independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level consultation, coordination, and oversight across recruitment, onboarding, classification, compensation, and performance management.
• Oversee day-to-day delivery of HR services.
• Develop and improve processes to support efficient, consistent, customer-focused service.
• Supervise and develop HR staff through coaching and direction while fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Collaborate with managers to optimize vacancy filling and recruitment plans.
• Ensure job announcements attract a broad and diverse applicant field and promote the agency as an employer of choice.
• Train supervisors on interview and selection guidelines and develop interview questions for all panels.
• Collect data, run reports, and present recruitment activity information to HR and agency leadership.
• Oversee new employee orientation and liaise with SAFS/DES teams.
