Job summary

Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner is seeking a senior HR Consultant 4 to serve as an expert HR Generalist for the Executive Division. The role focuses on complex, high-risk HR matters, autonomy, and collaboration with agency leadership. Prior state government HR experience is preferred.

The position emphasizes equity, ADA accommodations, and supporting diverse workplaces while maintaining compliance with labor agreements and policies.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of professional full-time senior consultant HR experience with interpretation of HR rules and policies.
• Two years must include administer leave of absence (FMLA/PFML) and reasonable accommodations.
• Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior HR consultant and expert generalist to agency leadership, managers, and employees on complex HR matters.
• Administer protected leave programs (FMLA, PFML, Shared Leave, Parental Leave, PDL) ensuring compliance.
• Provide guidance on leave eligibility, medical documentation, approvals/denials, and ongoing management.
