Job summary

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services seeks a Human Resources Specialist VI in Austin to administer and support the agency’s classification and compensation program. This senior HR role provides consultation, analysis, and guidance on classification, compensation, workforce planning, and salary administration.

Responsibilities include conducting workforce and compensation analyses, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements, and advising leadership on workforce

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent
• Minimum of 1 year experience performing human resources with significant responsibility in classification and compensation
• Preferred: four-year college degree in HR management, business or public administration
• Preferred: experience with state government HR classification and compensation programs
• Preferred: experience with HRIS systems such as CAPPS, PeopleSoft HCM, ADP, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors

Responsibilities

• Conduct job analysis to determine appropriate classifications
• Review duties and position questionnaires for classification alignment
• Develop and revise job descriptions and postings
• Evaluate audit findings and provide recommendations on classification actions
• Advise leadership on workforce plans, policies, statutes, and procedures
• Administer and guide compensation and salary administration policies
