Job summary

The City of San Antonio is seeking a Classification and Compensation professional to perform high-level HR work within the Classification and Compensation Division of the Human Resources Department. Work is primarily in an office setting with possible supervisory duties and a standard Mon-Fri schedule.

Responsibilities include evaluating classification actions, researching salary data, revising job specifications, and participating in pay plan preparations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with preferable coursework in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business, or other related field.

Responsibilities

• Prepares evaluations for classification action determinations in response to salary requests, reclassification, or regrade requests.
• Provides technical assistance to other City Departments concerning various human resource actions.
• Revises job class specifications and conducts job studies, job site visits, job analysis sessions, and incumbent interviews regarding job content.
• Assists with projects and special assignments as assigned by management, such as taking the lead on classification studies arising out of department or division reorganizations.
• Researches and analyzes data to obtain information for formulating projects, plans, surveys, reports, strategies, forecasts, and trends.
• Performs a variety of professional tasks in support of assigned client departments or program area.
• Conducts labor market surveys to determine proper salary levels for specific job classifications or series.
• Responds to salary survey requests from other municipal entities and/or organizations on a timely basis.
• Collects and compiles data on assigned topics; analyzes statistics and prepares regular status reports.
• Prepares reports, program plans, and statistical analysis utilizing a personal computer and associated MS Windows-based software applications (e.g. Word, Excel).
• Participates in the preparation and production of the City's Pay Plan annually.
• Prepares detailed reports and general correspondence.
• May be required to coordinate and supervise the work of other employees.
• Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
