Job summary

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is seeking a Senior Director of Human Resources to lead HR at a systems level from a remote USA location. You will partner with senior leaders to design, evolve, and execute a proactive people strategy that advances ministry on campuses nationwide.

The role requires deep HR leadership, strategic thinking, and a strong track record in building scalable HR processes aligned with the organization’s mission and values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, management, business or a relevant field.
• 12 years of progressive HR experience.
• 7 years of management experience.
• HR Business Partner experience; nonprofit/ ministry experience preferred.
• Strong cross-cultural abilities and spiritual maturity; ministry experience a plus.
• Proven ability to translate vision into executable HR strategy and operating models.
• Experience designing or redesigning HR operating models and employee relations functions.
• Change-management capability with ability to drive organizational change.

Responsibilities

• Provide systems-level leadership for HR to align with InterVarsity’s Purpose, Vision and Core Values.
• Act as a strategic thought partner to translate HR activities into a coherent people strategy.
• Develop long-range plans with measurable objectives for HR functions.
• Lead compensation design, ensuring internal equity and external nonprofit competitiveness.
• Oversee HR budgets, policy implementation, and compliance with employment laws.
• Build an HR operating model with clear roles, accountability, and capacity to support campus ministries.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in HR, management, business or a relevant field

12 years of progressive HR experience

7 years of management experience

HR Business Partner experience

Strong cross-cultural abilities

Demonstrated change-management capability

Experience designing or redesigning HR operating models

Leadership and strategic partnership with senior leadership

Ability to travel as required
