Job summary

AeroVironment in Maryland seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to join a hands-on team focused on integrating, automating, and sustaining high-performance computing (HPC) systems in a Linux environment.

The role demands deep Linux administration, software integration, infrastructure automation, containerized environments, DevSecOps practices, and PKI expertise to ensure HPC platforms are highly available, scalable, secure, and maintainable.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Twenty (20) years of experience as a Systems Engineer on similar programs.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in a related discipline; five years of substitution allowed.
• Proficiency using the Linux command-line interface.
• Experience scripting with Bash and/or Python.
• Experience administering Linux systems: software integration, service mgmt, config mgmt, provisioning, storage & networking.
• Experience installing/configuring COTS/GOTS/FOSS in Linux environments.
• Experience with HashiCorp Vault and secret management.
• Experience with Big Data streaming/batch frameworks.
• Experience applying CI/CD using GitLab CI.
• Experience with IaC using Ansible.
• Experience with Docker containerization.
• Experience with Kubernetes or similar orchestration.
• Working knowledge of PKI incl lifecycle management, NPEs, wildcard certs, FQDNs.
• Experience with Git for source control.

Responsibilities

• Lead software integration across Linux HPC environments.
• Install, configure, and sustain COTS, GOTS, and FOSS software and libraries.
• Administer Linux systems with CLI: services, config, troubleshooting.
• Support provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of compute/storage/networking.
• Develop Bash/Python scripts to automate sysadmin tasks.
• Design and maintain automated infrastructure for availability and scalability.
• Apply IaC and config mgmt with Ansible.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps with GitLab CI/Git.
• Deploy and manage Docker containers and Kubernetes services.
• Support stream/batch Big Data frameworks.
• Maintain secret-management with Vault and related tools.
• Manage PKI infrastructure including certificates and lifecycles.
• Document architectures, configurations, and operations.
• Lead systems engineering activities for complex projects.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring.
