Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain system-management software for Linux-based HPC environments. You will build services, automate provisioning, and ensure security and reliability across complex infrastructure.

The role requires hands-on programming in Python and Rust, Bash scripting, containerization with Docker/Podman/containerd, and experience with Ansible and CI/CD pipelines. TS/SCI clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
• Masters in CS or related field with 5+ years of software engineering experience, or Bachelors with 7+ years, or 9 years of relevant work.
• Experience with Linux CLI and Linux tools.
• Proficiency in Bash and Python scripting for automation.
• Experience in Python and/or Rust for Linux environments.
• Experience with containerization (Docker/Podman/containerd).
• Experience using automation frameworks like Ansible for deployment and config.
• Experience troubleshooting software and automation in operational environments.
• Experience applying CI/CD with GitLab CI and Jenkins.
• Experience using Git for source control and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, test, deploy, and maintain system-management software for Linux HPC environments.
• Develop software using Python and Rust.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, and sustainment of HPC systems.
• Create Bash and Python scripts for automation of tasks and deployments.
• Build interfaces enabling communication between HPC components and tools.
• Develop containerized applications with Docker/Podman/containerd.
• Use Ansible to orchestrate deployment and configuration.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and automate builds, tests, and releases.
• Analyze logs and performance data to identify root causes and fixes.
• Collaborate with systems, cybersecurity, and DevOps teams throughout lifecycle.
