Oak Ridge National Laboratory's NCCS seeks an HPC Linux Systems Engineer to strengthen the security, performance, and reliability of Frontier and other HPC environments. The role sits in the NCCS Systems Section, Scalable Systems Group, focusing on installation, deployment, and troubleshooting of large-scale clusters and storage networks.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years of Linux experience, familiarity with security policies (NIST, STIGs), and hands-on HPC deployment in secure settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a scientific or technical field.

Responsibilities

• Install, integrate, and administer HPC Linux clusters and high-speed network.
• Diagnosing system operational problems quickly and effectively.
• Coordinating with vendors to resolve hardware and software problems.
• Recommending, planning, and coordinating hardware and software changes with customer participation using change management processes.
• Porting and writing system management tools.
• Documenting system administration procedures for routine and complex tasks.
• Participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation and off-hours maintenance windows.
• System integration into NCCS environment and performance analysis.
