Job summary
UT-Battelle at ORNL seeks an HPC Infrastructure Platform Engineer to join the NCCS HPC Infrastructure group. The role focuses on Linux and Kubernetes administration, identity management, and automation to support Frontier-era computing facilities in Oak Ridge.
You will lead small projects, mentor staff, and implement scalable, secure infrastructure. The candidate should have strong scripting skills and experience with OpenLDAP, VMware, and IaC practices, along with the ability to collaborate
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field with 5+ years Linux and Kubernetes administration, or master’s with 4+ years in Linux and Kubernetes.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience designing, building and maintaining Kubernetes platform tools.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure and manage Linux HPC-scale services (RedHat/Rocky).
- Build and maintain Kubernetes platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and automation.
- Manage identity and access with LDAP and PingFederate; secure access for users and workloads.
- Deploy, manage NCCS VMware environment; identify automation targets and drive projects.
- Lead small infrastructure projects; mentor teammates; drive improvements to systems.
