Job summary
The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s CADRE is seeking an experienced High Performance Computing Engineer to plan, implement, and maintain advanced cyberinfrastructure for economic research. You will design HPC clusters, manage storage, optimize workflows with SLURM, and collaborate with researchers to advance computational economics.
This on-site role offers relocation assistance and partial remote work, with locations in Denver, Kansas City, Oklahoma City or Omaha.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in CS/engineering/math or related field; 6+ years in HPC.
- Extensive Linux (RHEL/CentOS) experience in HPC environments.
- Proficient scripting (Python, Bash) and CLI skills.
- Experience with SLURM, PBS, LSF and resource management.
- Knowledge of parallel file systems (Ceph, GPFS, Lustre).
- Familiarity with MPI/OpenMP and scientific frameworks.
- Experience with automation tools (Salt, Ansible, Puppet).
- Strong problem solving and analytical thinking.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, configure, and administer medium-scale HPC clusters and storage.
- Monitor health, performance, and resource utilization for optimal operation.
- Implement security protocols and perform upgrades/patching.
- Troubleshoot hardware/software issues in multi-user environments.
- Manage job scheduling and workload optimization with SLURM.
- Operate parallel file systems (Ceph, GPFS, Lustre) and storage.
