Job summary

The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City seeks an experienced High Performance Computing Engineer to plan, implement, and maintain advanced cyberinfrastructure for economic research. You will work with researchers to translate computational needs into scalable HPC solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of HPC administration and systems engineering.
• Extensive Linux experience in HPC environments.
• Strong scripting in Python and Bash.
• Experience with SLURM, PBS, LSF, and resource management.
• Knowledge of parallel file systems (Ceph, GPFS, Lustre, BeeGFS).
• Familiarity with MPI/OpenMP and scientific computing frameworks.
• Experience with configuration management tools (Salt, Ansible, Puppet).

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and administer medium-scale HPC clusters and storage.
• Monitor performance, security, and capacity; maintain operations.
• Develop automation scripts and reproducible research workflows.
• Optimize applications and workflows for HPC performance.
• Support GPU computing and accelerator technologies where needed.
• Collaborate with researchers and cross-disciplinary teams.
