Job summary

The Senior HPC Administrator will operate, secure, and govern a secure HPC environment supporting CMS and NIH datasets, ensuring regulatory compliance and auditable research computing services. You will lead security hardening, patching, and incident response within Mount Sinai's data ecosystem.

Responsibilities include managing HPC services, audits, and collaboration with DTP Cybersecurity and science teams, while delivering high‑performance, reliable computing for researchers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline; Master's or PhD preferred.
• 8+ years HPC systems administration experience in large-scale Red Hat/CentOS Linux batch environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide full lifecycle administration of secure HPC infrastructure including compute, storage, networking, and supporting services.
• Design, maintain, and enforce secure network architectures, including segmentation, firewall rules, and controlled ingress/egress.
• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues across system, hardware, software, and network.
• Implement and maintain NIST-aligned security controls including encryption, secure enclaves, access control, and centralized logging.
• Ensure CMS DMP SAQ, NIST SP 800-171/800-53 compliance, and Mount Sinai cybersecurity standards.
• Organize external audits and recertification, coordinating remediation and audit readiness.
• Stay current with HPC and cybersecurity technologies and collaborate with researchers and teams.
