Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System's Scientific Computing and Data group seeks a Senior HPC Administrator to oversee a secure, high‑performance computing environment supporting regulated research workloads, including CMS and NIH datasets. You will lead cybersecurity, audit readiness, and system governance, partnering with DTP Cybersecurity and guiding a diverse Linux cluster, storage, and data services team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline; Masters or PhD preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive HPC systems administration in large Red Hat/CentOS Linux batch environments.
• Experience with HPC schedulers, parallel file systems, configuration management, databases, web services, Globus and high-performance networking.
• Strong cybersecurity practices within regulated environments, including firewalls, data protection, access controls, monitoring, and incident response.
• In-depth knowledge of NIST SP 800-171/80053 with hands-on experience implementing compliant HPC systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide full lifecycle administration of secure HPC infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, and supporting services.
• Lead security hardening, patching, vulnerability management, and regulatory compliance.
• Design and enforce secure network architectures and access controls.
• Coordinate incident response activities and security investigations with Cybersecurity teams.
• Organize external audits and maintain audit readiness.
• Support researchers with computational, data, and analytics needs and create user-facing docs.
