Job summary

The Mount Sinai Health System's Scientific Computing group manages a 30,000+ core HPC cluster and 50+ PB storage, delivering secure, auditable research computing services.

The Senior HPC Administrator will lead operation, security, and governance of a compliant HPC environment supporting CMS, NIH, and other regulated data, driving incident response, audits, and continuous improvement in collaboration with DTP Cybersecurity and compliance stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline; Masters/PhD preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive HPC systems administration experience in large-scale Linux batch environments.
• Deep cybersecurity expertise in regulated environments (healthcare/government).
• Experience with HPC schedulers, parallel file systems, configuration management, databases, and high-performance networking.

Responsibilities

• Provide full lifecycle administration of secure HPC infrastructure (compute, storage, networking, services).
• Design and enforce secure network architectures and access controls; maintain security policies and documentation.
• Lead incident response, audits, and compliance activities with CMS DMP SAQ, NIST, NIH policies.
• Support researchers with data transfers, software installs, and batch jobs; create user-facing docs.
• Provide after-hours support and drive continuous improvement in collaboration with cybersecurity teams.
