Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a shift supervisor responsible for the supervision, custody and control of inmates assigned to housing units. You will conduct routine inspections and investigations, supervise staff performance and training, and prepare reports.

This role also involves counts and stepping in for the Shift Lieutenant when needed. Requirements include a high school diploma with relevant experience; a bachelor's degree may substitute for part of the

Qualifications

Ability to supervise inmates and security staff.

Responsibilities

Supervise subordinate security personnel and custody of inmates in housing units.
M ake routine inspections of living areas for security, safety, and sanitation.
Conduct investigations of alleged misconduct by inmates and security staff.
Assist in conducting formal and informal counts.
Supervise job performance and evaluations of assigned staff.
Counsel, recommend disciplinary actions, and train staff to required standards.
Prepare reports as needed or required.
Perform duties of Shift Lieutenant when necessary.
