Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a Corrections Supervisor to oversee security operations in housing units under the shift lieutenant. You will supervise subordinate security staff, ensure custody and control of inmates, and lead counts and inspections to meet security, safety, and sanitation standards.

Applicants must have a high school diploma with relevant experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for some experience.

Qualifications

High school diploma required; a bachelor's degree may substitute for the required experience.
Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and complete the basic supervisory course within six months.

Responsibilities

Supervise subordinate security assigned to housing units and oversee custody and control of inmates.
M causes routine inspections of the living areas for security, safety, and sanitation standards.
Conduct investigations of alleged misconduct on the part of inmates and security personnel.
Assist in conducting formal and informal counts.
Supervise the job performance, conduct and appearance of assigned security personnel and prepares employee evaluations, counsels, recommends disciplinary action, and trains subordinate staff to required standards of performance.
Prepare reports as needed or required.
Performs duties of shift lieutenant when necessary.
