Job summary

Smith/Packett is seeking a Senior Development Manager to oversee planning, development, acquisition, and renovation of senior housing projects. You will manage scope, budget, and schedule, coordinating with operators, engineers, architects, and contractors to deliver projects on time.

The role requires strong communication, travel flexibility, and a track record in project management within eldercare real estate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required, with preference in Real Estate Development, Urban or Land Planning, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or Business Administration. MBA graduates preferred.
• Minimum five (5) years of project management experience preferred, senior housing experience preferred.
• Ability to prepare and track project budgets and schedules.
• Familiarity with architectural, engineering and furniture and space planning drawings and their use.
• Understanding of basic construction practices, including scheduling, knowledge of Procore.
• Ability to travel as required to monitor progress of assigned development projects.
• Highly organized with strong analytical skills to identify and manage priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including public speaking.
• Detail oriented approach to job responsibilities.
• Ability to multi-task and work both in a team environment and independently.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Understanding of market analytics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all aspects of planning and developing new senior housing projects.
• Coordinate site identification, due diligence, and initial planning with brokers and engineers.
• Lead review and execution of project contracts with architects and constructors.
• Develop preliminary site plans and master plans for cost evaluations and planning.
• Coordinate rezoning and special permit requests with municipalities and attend meetings.
• Support COPN processes, including applications and hearings as needed.
• Direct third-party surveys, soils, environmental investigations and related docs.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, invoicing, and internal reporting.
• Facilitate communication between operators, designers, contractors, and team members.
• Provide updates on construction progress, schedule, and financing status.
• Ensure timely responses to project requirements and client needs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve scope and constructability issues.
