Job summary

Hyatt Place Columbia/Harbison is seeking a Hotel Chief Engineer with proven hotel maintenance leadership to guide the maintenance and grounds teams in daily operations. You will supervise, train, and coach staff, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• College degree preferred with emphasis in Hospitality or 5 years in a supervisory or management position.
• Experience managing a maintenance team through motivation, coaching and development.
• Ability to anticipate customer needs, change goals and direction quickly and multitask.
• Working knowledge of rooms management systems.
• Proven experience supervising maintenance departments of 10+ associates.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and monitor the maintenance team to ensure high quality standards and inspections of guest rooms and public areas.
• Recruit, train, coach, and counsel maintenance and grounds team members per regulations.
• Develop and manage programs for operation and maintenance of guest rooms, equipment, and facilities; ensure emergency procedures are trained.
• Oversee budget and inventory controls; manage expenditures aligned with forecasts and budget.
• Coordinate renovation bidding, define scope and cost, and supervise contractors and subcontractors.
• Maintain records on projects, invoices, and payroll/time attendance to avoid issues.
