Job summary

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Maintenance/Engineering leader to supervise the Engineering Department. You will oversee equipment, systems, and building components, with authority over daily operations and engineering teams.

You will lead staff, manage safety training, and work closely with People & Culture to maintain excellent hotel operations and guest experiences. Strong blueprint-reading and MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hotel maintenance/engineering experience with 2+ years of management experience.
• High-rise Fire Safety, CFC, and chemical testing certifications.
• Proficient in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, locksmith, refrigeration, welding, boiler maintenance, chillers, and carpentry.

Responsibilities

• Operate, repair, and maintain pumps, boilers, motors, chillers, electrical systems, lighting, hotel appliances, and the hotel plant.
• Paint surfaces, perform minor wall coverings and furniture touch-ups.
• Perform minor construction, repair locks/keys, and replace lightbulbs, fixtures, TVs, radios.
• Lead staff via evaluations, monthly meetings, and training on technical and safety systems.
• Maintain positive relationships with the People & Culture Department.
• Maintain par stocks of essential parts and requisition parts as needed.
• Keep logs of equipment tests, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, extinguishers, and other readings.
• Ensure professional contacts with project contractors and salesmen per Kimpton standards.
