Job summary

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to supervise the Engineering Department in our Washington, DC property. You will oversee equipment, systems, and building components, and lead the engineering team to ensure safe, reliable operations.

The role requires 4+ years in hotel maintenance/engineering with 2+ years in management, certifications in fire safety, CFC, and chemical testing, and proficiency in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and carpentry.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or trade school experience preferred.
• 4+ years of hotel maintenance/engineering experience.
• 2+ years of management experience.
• High-rise Fire Safety, CFC, and chemical testing certifications.
• Proficient in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, locksmithing, refrigeration, welding, boiler maintenance, chillers, and carpentry.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings.
• Proficient in MS Office and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Engineering Department with the Regional Director of Engineering and the property GM.
• Maintain equipment, systems, and building components.
• Lead property engineering teams and daily operations.
• Operate, repair, and maintain pumps, boilers, motors, chillers, electrical systems, refrigeration, lighting, hotel appliances, and the hotel physical plant.
• Lead staff by conducting performance evaluations, weekly meetings, and training on technical and safety systems.
• Maintain open relationships with the People & Culture Department.
• Keep par stocks of essential parts and materials and notify supervisor when parts are needed.
• Maintain logs of equipment tests, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and maintenance reports.
• Ensure professional communication with contractors and vendors.
