Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks a Superintendent of Hospital Utilities to ensure 24/7, safe operation of HVAC, electrical, water, and emergency backup systems across the campus. The role leads Facilities Management, oversees operators, and coordinates with contractors for maintenance and improvements.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years in facilities leadership, 3+ years in supervisory roles, and strong project management skills to support patient care and campus reliability.

Qualifications

• Seven-plus years of progressive facilities or utilities maintenance management.
• At least three years in supervisory or higher-level leadership.
• Experience in hospital or healthcare university settings is preferred.
• Strong business acumen and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and direct operation, maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical, water and gas systems.
• Determine work priority and schedule shutdowns with minimal disruption.
• Plan long-range maintenance programs and budgeting input.
• Coordinate with private contractors for renovations and installations.
• Monitor campus via EMS/BMS and supervise CDAS operators.
• Train staff and ensure quality and safety of work performed.
• Prepare periodic reports on facilities operations.
