Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services seeks a Security Officer III for Austin State Hospital. The role ensures safety across the campus, handles initial investigations, and provides support to staff and patients. Regular day shifts with additional nights are possible; telework is not available.

Responsibilities include patrols, incident reporting, and occasional switchboard duties. Four years of security experience and Texas driver license preferred. Compensation ranges monthly with benefits included.

Qualifications

• Four years or more continuous work experience in law enforcement, security or corrections required.
• Three years or more security experience in a mental health facility required.
• CPR/AED certification preferred; willingness to be certified within 6 months required.
• Must possess a valid Texas driver license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date.

Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital grounds to monitor unusual occurrences and safeguard property.
• Provide direction and assistance to visitors, staff, and patients.
• Respond to alarms and operate switchboard during emergencies.
• Assist with department scheduling and report writing as needed.
