Job summary

Health & Human Services Comm (HHSC) in Austin, TX is seeking a Security Officer III to join the Protective Services team at Austin State Hospital. This full-time, on-site role includes day shifts with additional nights, travel up to 10%, and a focus on safety, incident response, and customer service to patients, staff, and visitors.

The ideal candidate has four years or more in security or law enforcement, or three years in a mental health setting; must meet licensing and CPR/AED expectations.

Qualifications

• Four years or more continuous work experience in law enforcement, security or corrections.
• OR: Three years or more security experience in a mental health facility.

Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital grounds and monitor for unusual occurrences.
• Provide direction to patients, staff, and visitors.
• Assist in administrative tasks and incident reporting.
• Open gates and coordinate with emergency responders.
• Support shift scheduling and coverage as needed.
