Job summary

Western Missouri Medical Center is seeking a Lead Engineer to plan, organize, and supervise the Engineering & Maintenance Department’s activities across hospital and clinic facilities. You will oversee HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, and grounds to ensure safe, reliable operations and cost-effective maintenance.

The role involves budgeting input, employee development, and coordination with other departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 5 years' healthcare maintenance experience preferred or military education in facilities maintenance or 5 years' experience in similar maintenance field.
• Skill and knowledge on repair and operational maintenance of HVAC Systems, Mechanical Systems, and Utilities related to the hospital and clinics.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to develop, implement and evaluate efficient and cost-effective methods for construction, repair and/or maintenance projects as applicable.
• Ability to manage complex projects and resources (people, costs, time).
• Knowledge of cost estimating and project management.
• Knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and mathematics.
• Knowledge of materials methods and principles used in the maintenance of hospital, clinic, and office building installations and systems.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal, and personnel management.
• Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.

Responsibilities

• Administer and supervise preventive maintenance programs to ensure uninterrupted operation of hospital and clinics.
• Develop orientation for new employees and ongoing education of department staff.
• Instruct personnel on hazards and safety to ensure safe procedures and equipment use.
• Ensure compliance with safety codes and operating processes.
• Supervise scheduling and staffing of the Engineering Department.
• Provide input on budget and cost projections for facilities operations.
• Schedule and supervise maintenance, repair, and minor construction activities.
