Job description

As a Senior Homeowner Liability Claims Adjuster, you will investigate and manage highly complex homeowner claims. Your responsibilities include determining liability, securing information, reviewing coverages, arranging appraisals, and settling claims. You should demonstrate experience in performing all aspects of claim adjustment activities with a high degree of competency and independence. The role specializes in homeowner liability and structural property damage claims, with opportunities to expand into commercial liability claims. You will report to a Senior Manager, Adjusting Services.

This primarily home-based position requires you to spend 80% of your time (over 4 days per week) working from home. Candidates must reside near: Madison, WI; Boston, MA; Minneapolis, MN; Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Keene, NH; St. Joseph, MO; Atlanta, GA.

Position Compensation Range:

$68,000.00 - $113,000.00

Pay Rate Type:

Salary

Compensation may vary based on job level and geographic location. Relocation support is available for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities
  1. Investigate the origin and cause of claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, the special investigation unit, other adjusters, public personnel, etc.
  2. Identify complex issues and seek assistance as needed. Handle claims in good faith.
  3. Manage Third-Party Structural Property Damage Liability claims across various policy types and endorsements.
  4. Respond to customer inquiries, make appropriate decisions, and close files as necessary.
  5. Interpret policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles, and coverages, applying them to assigned losses.
  6. Make independent decisions and self-supervise most files, recognizing when assistance is needed.
  7. Proactively communicate claim process and status to all parties; answer questions or redirect as appropriate.
  8. Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert to less experienced adjusters.
  9. Perform additional duties or participate in projects based on skills, achievements, or experience.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
  1. Experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  2. Experience handling Third-Party, multi-line, and Property Damage Liability claims.
  3. Experience managing simple to moderately complex claims.
  4. Extensive knowledge of policies and endorsements.
  5. Thorough understanding of each phase of the claim handling process.
  6. 5+ years of liability claims experience is preferred.
Licenses
  • Obtain state-specific property casualty claims licensing as required.

  • Up to 10%
