Job description

Senior Homeowner Liability Claims Adjuster

As a Senior Homeowner Liability Claims Adjuster, you will investigate and manage highly complex homeowner claims. Your responsibilities include determining liability, securing information, reviewing coverages, arranging appraisals, and settling claims. You should demonstrate expertise in all areas of claim adjustment activities with a high degree of independence and competency. The role specializes in homeowner liability and structural property damage claims, with opportunities to expand into commercial liability claims. You will report to a Senior Manager, Adjusting Services.

This primarily home-based role involves spending 80% of your time (4+ days per week) working from home. Candidates must reside near: Madison, WI; Boston, MA; Minneapolis, MN; Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Keene, NH; St. Joseph, MO; Atlanta, GA.

Position Compensation Range:

$68,000.00 - $113,000.00

Salary

Compensation may vary based on job level and geographic location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Investigate the origin and cause of claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, the special investigation unit, other adjusters, public personnel, etc.
  • Identify complex issues and seek assistance as needed. Handle claims in good faith.
  • Manage Third-Party Structural Property Damage Liability claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, make appropriate decisions, and close files as necessary.
  • Interpret and apply policies, leases, bylaws, declarations, articles, and contract coverages to assigned losses.
  • Make independent decisions, self-supervise most files, and recognize when assistance is needed.
  • Proactively communicate claim process and status to all parties; answer questions or redirect as appropriate.
  • Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert for less experienced adjusters.
  • Perform additional assignments or participate in projects based on skills and experience.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
  • Experience providing customer-driven solutions and support.
  • Experience handling Third-Party, multi-line, and Property Damage Liability claims.
  • Experience managing simple to moderately complex claims.
  • Extensive knowledge of policies and endorsements.
  • Comprehensive understanding of each phase of the claim handling process.
  • 5+ years of liability claims handling experience preferred.
Licenses
  • Obtain state-specific property casualty claims licensing as required.
Travel Requirements
  • Up to 10%

  • Primarily sitting and standing activities.
