Job summary

Akkodis in San Jose, CA is seeking a senior software engineer to develop UI/UX and 3D visual software for an evolving HMI engine. You will collaborate with designers, researchers, and developers to deliver end-to-end visual features for multiple platforms.

The role emphasizes strong C++ expertise, modern C++ practices, and experience with game engines and asset pipelines. Onsite work and a dynamic, collaborative environment are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Knowledge of UI design patterns (MVC, MVP, MVVM).
• 3D graphics software development experience (DirectX/OpenGL/Vulkan).
• Experience on complex software with multidisciplinary teams of designers, researchers, and developers.
• Experience working in an Agile sprint schedule and task management.
• Self-sufficient and eager to learn new technologies.
• Experience developing proprietary game engines or using engines (Unreal/Unity/Godot).
• Experience with setting up build systems (CMake or equivalent).
• Excellent debugging skills for memory, threading, and network issues.
• Experience developing reusable internal and third-party libraries.
• Knowledge of Modern C++ (C++11/14/17).
• Experience using 3D modeling tools (3ds Max, Maya, Blender).

Responsibilities

• HMI Software Development (80%) - develop and maintain visual features for the HMI engine across projects.
• Maintain, optimize, and fix bugs in the HMI engine for multiple platforms.
• Collaborate with designers and researchers to implement 2D/3D visuals meeting aesthetic and functional goals.
• Iterate on design implementations in a dynamic design environment.
• Develop tools and UI apps to support HMI software development.
• Debug and troubleshoot in a data-driven networked environment.
• HMI Software Integration (10%) - build, deploy, and test HMI software in a concept car.
• Set up concept car hardware and test integrations with software.
• Project Management (10%) - work with engineers, researchers, designers, and PMs across the production cycle.
